Online Mystery Box Sites To AVOID!

Are Mystery Box Sites Scams?

Online mystery box sites are a trend where users purchase virtual mystery boxes with the promise of receiving undisclosed items, often with a perceived value greater than the purchase price. The excitement of the unknown can be enticing, but many people suspect these sites to be scams due to several reasons. Firstly, the contents of the mystery boxes are typically not guaranteed, and there's a risk of receiving low-value or irrelevant items. But this does not make these sites a scam, if you win a sticker for $10, that was what the generated algorithm gave you, and on legitimate sites you can see the % chance of winning each item before buying. This way you can look at the items and the chance of winning, then proceed to open the mystery box.

Another issue people usually say is the lack of transparency in some sites, including fake reviews or manipulated odds, which adds to the skepticism. In this article, I will reveal the top 5 mystery box sites you should avoid, shedding light on their dubious practices and providing guidance on how to steer clear of potential online scams.

1.) Lootie

Now Lootie is a very well designed site, with a variety of boxes, but after seeing it's launch in 2020 compared to now in 2024, everything has gone downhill. Based on recent customer reviews, articles online, videos, and pretty much everything you can imagine, shows Lootie to be a scam site. Their service as an online mystery box site that delivers their promises seems to have stopped for a long time now.

Reasons Lootie is a scam:

  • No Deliveries - The idea of a mystery box site is to open virtual boxes to win prizes online that can be redeemed and shipped out to your address. Lootie, as of now, seems to not deliver any prizes at all as you can see by various recent reviews online.

  • Terrible Recent Reviews - If you look at Lootie's reviews online, all the positive ones are old, whereas recent reviews all show the same story, that Lootie did not deliver any goods.

  • Poor Customer Support - Lootie, like many sites operate on a ticket support service, but it seems that they never answer their tickets. I have personal experience with Lootie, and my ticket regarding a delivery from 7 months ago still hasn't been answered.

2.) HypeLoot

HypeLoot is a relatively new mystery box site, but it has climbed the ranks very quickly. HypeLoot has a great user interface, and many nice game modes, BUT, they seem to run under very shady rulings. There have been many verified user reviews online stating that HypeLoot banned their account when they withdrew crypto, or any items, as well as HypeLoot not delivering any items or withdrawals at all.

Reasons HypeLoot is a scam:

  • Deleting Users Accounts - After speaking to some verified users on HypeLoot, you can see these on reddit yourselves, I can confirm HypeLoot delete users' accounts when they request a withdrawal of an item or crypto.

  • Terrible Recent Reviews - Most of HypeLoot's good reviews seem to be AI written with little context, whereas the majority of recent reviews are all negative, all explaining the same issue.

  • Poor Customer Support - Once again HypeLoot operate on a ticket customer support system, which leads to users' waiting months for a reply. Definitely stay away from sites that operate on ticket based systems only.

3.) MysteryBoxBrand

MysteryBoxBrand has a copy and paste site style, that seems to be copied from another site. There is nothing unique to this site, and from the User interface alone I can see how it would be a scam.

Reasons MysteryBoxBrand is a scam:

  • Very few reviews online - It seems that this site was acquired by someone new, and there are very few recent reviews about this site at all.

  • Poor Customer Support - From the very few reviews on MysteryBoxBrand, most are negative talking about how they haven't received any items they have won.

How to avoid scam sites?

The main way to spot scam sites is by checking reviews all around Google, since some sites have negative reviews because users won stickers instead of the sneakers they wanted. This does not make a mystery box site a scam if you win a sticker, so look around and see what verified users have to say. You can also deposit a small amount to sites with customer support ticket systems, to see if they respond and choose to deposit more if you are happy with their service.
